This all new product, together with a new apparel line of CoolShirt ® products designed by Luna-C will be introduced by both companies at the PRI show this week in Orlando, FL
New York – November 28, 2012 —Luna-C Clothing and CoolShirt Systems of Stockbridge, GA have officially announced an exciting new collaboration to create a new product that will utilize the incredible benefits of their combined technologies. This multilevel approach will enable the two companies to offer the innovative cooling systems of CoolShirt incorporated with the cutting-edge technologies, coldblack® and energear™, which are signature elements in the Luna-C Clothing line. Additionally, CoolShirt Systems will present their first-ever menswear fashion line, also created by the designers at Luna-C, which will also feature the high-tech, innovative, automobile-influenced, racing-inspired style that Luna-C is known for.
Founded in 1987 by the late Richard Shafer, CoolShirt Systems are long known for being the world leader in personal cooling systems within their clothing—a ground-breaking design keeps the wearer cool on the front lines of emergency services, military actions, medical operating rooms, and on the starting line of major auto races. CoolShirt Systems will now expand its offerings in its cool-functional gear for everyone to enjoy with the high-quality design of the Luna-C brand. Guided by its president and owner, Eileen Shafer, CoolShirt Systems continues today as an industry leader in innovation and quality.
Not only do the two companies share a passion for creating innovative products, Luna-C and CoolShirt Systems also share a passion for racing. Given this, their new partnership agreement is a natural fit and this union reflects their enthusiasm for the sport. CoolShirt is used by over 30,000 race car drivers worldwide, in all levels of racing with the promise of keeping the driver cool. The interior of a race car can exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit, yet a CoolShirt system will keep the wearer cool and focused. The same applies in all the aforementioned professions where CoolShirt Systems protects and provides for the individuals who wear their apparel.
According to Bruce Baker, CoolShirt Systems Division Sales Director for Racing and Government, "This new partnership with Luna-C Clothing is an outstanding new offering because it allows us to offer upgrades in technology and fashion to our already innovative, field-proven apparel. And, the offering of a menswear line is another bonus to both our brands for recognition in quality." Tony Blackbum, CoolShirt Systems VP of Sales and Marketing adds, "We at CoolShirt Systems are always looking for ways to improve our products on behalf of our customer's performance, protection and comfort and I was especially happy when Lee Davis from Luna-C reached out for our involvement in a joint venture for cutting-edge new products."
The Luna-C collaboration with CoolShirt Systems was initiated by Lee Davis, CEO of Luna-C, and a gentleman racing driver himself, “We’re very excited about this partnership with CoolShirt®. The 2CoolShirt® by Luna-C features two of our latest technologies—coldblack®, which reduces the absorption of the sunlight, therefore allowing a dark colored garment to remain cool to the touch even in direct sunlight. It also protects against harmful UV rays; and the second technology, energear™, which is an energy recovery system for the body. Studies have shown that energear has an effect on the body’s balance and can result in enhanced performance, prevention of premature fatigue, and improved general well-being. Although these characteristics are beneficial in our everyday lives, they are particularly suited for racing. A driver is always looking for that extra edge, and although energear will not make you Superman, it has the ability to activate that 'in the zone' feeling that just might make the difference. I’ll definitely be wearing one in the Rolex 24!” Luna-C and BGB Motorsports are fielding a car in the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona this coming January.
This is also a perfect opportunity for both Luna-C and CoolShirt Systems to expand their offerings into different vertical markets. Davis further commented, “With CoolShirt’s reputation for quality and innovation, it was an easy choice when we were searching for a partner on this project. Their penetration into the military, industrial and aviation markets is appealing and the idea that our technology could benefit these groups is very rewarding."

About CoolShirt Systems:
The invention that launched CoolShirt Systems was a cooling vest for surgeons to use in the operating room. Rich Shafer, the company’s founder, spent many years working beside surgeons for hours under hot operating room lights as a distributor for replacement knees, hips, etc. In a true entrepreneurial spirit, Rich saw the opportunity to help the doctors that were helping the patients and the Surgeon’s Cool Vest was born. Since 1987, Shafer Enterprises has grown exponentially to become the world leader in personal cooling systems for surgeons, racecar drivers, football players, fire/emergency services/hazmat, military and industrial workers. Using NASA study guidelines, CoolShirt® active cooling systems help people manage body heat in extreme environments using circulating temperature-controlled cool water.
