No. 03 Luna-C Clothing / Lamborghini of Dallas leads, but doesn’t finish, races at Watkins Glen
June 30, 2014 (Johns Creek, GA) – It was a weekend of Speed, but not victory, for the driving duo of Lee Davis and Scott Speed during the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America rounds at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York.
Thanks to a massive lap during qualifying for Friday’s race, the No. 03 Luna-C Clothing / Lamborghini of Dallas Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo would start from pole position. Davis lead the race throughout the early stages before a cut tire ended his run before Speed had the opportunity to get behind the wheel. As they did not finish the first race on Friday, Davis and Speed would start Saturday’s race from last place. Davis would start again, making rapid progress through the field before handing the car over to Speed during the compulsory pit stop. Speed’s run, however, was short as yet another cut tire would force them to retire from the race.
“I had a blast racing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo this weekend at Watkins Glen,” said Speed. “Huge thanks to Lee Davis and to Luna-C Clothing for such a fun weekend. The results were disappointing but we had a great time and it was fun to drive the full Watkins Glen International circuit. It was a fun way to get ready for the Volkswagen Rallycross NY event with my Andretti Volkswagen Rallycross team.”
The Luna-C Clothing / Lamborghini Dallas Gallardo LP 570-4 LP that Davis and Speed drove carried #SpeedToNYC branding at Watkins Glen, highlighting the Volkswagen Rallycross NY event in New York at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on July 20th. A Grand Prize Winner – selected from someone following @LunaCClothing and using the hashtag #SpeedToNYC between June 27 at 12:00am and July 3 at 11:59pm – will receive a trip for two to Volkswagen Rallycross NY.
“Although the results didn’t show it, we had a great effort this weekend!” said Davis. “It was amazing to watch Scott do less than 10 practice laps in the Luna-C Clothing / Lamborghini Dallas / #SpeedToNYC machine and put it on pole position. I was happy with my performance as well, maintaining the lead in the first race and picking up five spots in race two. Unfortunately, we didn’t finish either race. Regardless, we had a great time and we were able to begin promotional efforts for Scott’s next Global Rallycross race at Volkswagen Rallycross New York with the #SpeedToNYC campaign.”
